Virgin Active Waterfall
Upgraded Commercial Fitness BranchJohannesburg
Trend Group was appointed as the main contractor to deliver the refurbishment of Virgin Active Waterfall as part of a broader national upgrade programme. As experienced commercial fit out contractors, the team executed a phased fitout in construction, upgrading high-traffic, member-facing areas including reception, consulting rooms, private offices, and specialist fitness studios. The project highlights Trend Group’s capability to deliver technically coordinated commercial interior design projects beyond traditional office environments, with a disciplined approach to quality, durability, and precision execution.
As part of a broader programme of improvements across Virgin Active’s South African portfolio, Trend Group was appointed as the main contractor to deliver the upgrade of the Virgin Active Waterfall club in Waterfall City, Midrand, Johannesburg. The project reflects Trend Group’s understanding of delivering high-performance commercial environments where durability, detailing, and coordination are critical in high-traffic settings such as gyms.
Working in collaboration with the design and engineering teams, Trend Group’s role was to execute the build of the project, delivering a phased refurbishment focused on upgrading key member-facing spaces. The scope included the reception and lounge area, private offices and fitness consulting rooms, a reformer Pilates studio, and spinning class room — each requiring a different level of technical coordination and finish control.

High Quality Fitout Execution
The reception area was delivered with a focus on precision and consistency, combining soft seating in brand colours with integrated planters and recessed lighting. Branded elements behind the reception desk were carefully executed to achieve clean lines and a refined finish.
Private offices and fitness consulting rooms were refurbished with attention to acoustic separation, glazing interfaces, and lighting levels. The reformer Pilates studio introduced a more considered material palette, with coordinated flooring, ceiling lighting, and feature wall finishes, while the spinning studio required a higher level of technical coordination through the integration of coloured lighting, acoustic treatments, and bold branded wall graphics.
The completed refurbishment reflects a disciplined construction approach, demonstrating Trend Group’s ability to execute detailed design intent with precision, durability, and consistency. The project further highlights Trend Group’s capability to deliver technically coordinated commercial refurbishments beyond office environments, as part of larger, multi-site rollout programmes.
