Transforming Ubank’s Office Culture
Ubank, a reputable financial services provider operating in South Africa and across the continent, appointed Trend Group to integrate a hybrid working strategy into their office culture. In response to the challenges brought about by Covid-19, Ubank sought to reconfigure their Midrand Head Office to create a more flexible and modern workspace.
Space Reduction and Restructuring
The goal was to reduce occupancy by implementing hot-desking and tech-enabled flexible workspaces alongside meeting rooms. This innovative approach allows employees to choose how and where they work, promoting a culture of adaptability and collaboration.

A Business Hub with Modern Amenities
On the second floor, Trend Group designed a combination of configurable meeting and boardrooms to establish a vibrant business hub. This area includes a coffee bar and co-working environment, encouraging informal meetings and peer interaction. We focused on reusing existing furniture and fittings wherever possible, promoting sustainability while refreshing the space. Additionally, we introduced height-adjustable desks in the open plan area to enhance ergonomics for staff.




Achieving Agile Working
Trend Group successfully established a 50% agile working ratio for Ubank, introducing a variety of work settings that boost collaboration and flexibility. This transformation not only redefines how Ubank’s employees engage with their workspaces but also aligns with the evolving nature of modern work.
