Trend Group executed the fit-out for Fugazzi, creating a bold, immersive, and theatrical dining experience. The design transports guests to a world of nostalgic Italian-American glamour, with rich textures, dramatic lighting, and custom-designed furniture. Every detail, from the opulent bar to the intimate dining nooks, is crafted to create a memorable and highly Instagrammable atmosphere. This project showcases our expertise in bringing high-concept hospitality visions to life.
Vision Cooperation in Rosebank
A collaboration of creative minds has resulted in a truly unique dining experience, paying homage to classic New York Italian restaurants. Fugazzi, located in Rosebank, Johannesburg, is the latest venture from Colada Club—the team behind Proud Mary and MamaSamba. This new establishment embodies a passion for community, family, traditional cuisine, and a lively atmosphere.
From Nostalgia to Modernity
The design marries vintage charm with modern flair through burgundy leather seating, dark wood panelling, and custom mid-century modern furniture. Guests are immersed in playful elements that evoke pop culture from the 70s and 80s, with nostalgic décor encouraging conversation and connection.
Vibrant Colour Palette and Art Integration
Fugazzi injects energy into its distinctive character with a striking palette of black, cream, burgundy, ice-cream pink, and mint green. The dining space is transformed into an interactive gallery, featuring 64 meticulously selected artworks that invite guests to explore and engage with their surroundings.
Signature Features
A standout feature of Fugazzi is its bespoke polished terrazzo floor, with the restaurant’s name elegantly inlaid at the entrance. The eye-catching 1970s-style bar, adorned in black, cream, and brass, is complemented by custom-designed bar chairs, showcasing detail and design excellence.
Optimised Space for Engagement
Fugazzi accommodates up to 100 guests, with carefully positioned booths and tables offering views into the vibrant kitchen, where chefs display their culinary expertise. A striking red pizza oven serves as a focal point, while dimmable soft lighting enhances the atmosphere, adaptable to any dining experience.
