Superbalist

Fashion-forward Workplace for ECommerce Brand

Cape Town

Trend Group partnered with Superbalist to deliver a vibrant new workspace that reflects the brand’s creativity and energy. Inspired by the fashion houses of Milan, the result is a highly functional and visually striking interior office design space. This office fit out balances industrial simplicity with refined, fashion-inspired detailing.

Trend Group worked with Superbalist to create a workplace as dynamic and design-driven as the brand itself. Inspired by the fashion houses of Milan, the concept was to deliver a non-traditional office space with hints of fashion house and industrial warehouse elements in the middle of the bustling Cape Town City centre. Clear lines of sight across the spaces were key to encourage collaboration across teams. Occupying the 13th floor, the result is highly functional workspace featuring refined, considered details.

Space Planning Concept

The new environment moves away from the conventional corporate aesthetic of carpet and ceiling tiles, instead opening up as much of the floor as possible revealing the building’s services and bringing them to the forefront. The Trend Group design team introduced sculptural built forms, imagined as modular boxes placed across the floorplate, to define zones without interrupting openness. This illusion was achieved through a curved wall-to-ceiling detail that maintain a seamless visual flow while adhering to fire and local council regulations.

Materiality and Built-Elements

Refined touches include fluted glass panels to provide privacy to move away from the standard window vinyl, sheer curtains suspended from lighting bulkheads to soften the industrial palette, and the illusion of rounded, thickened columns for call back to the feel of strong industrial structures. In addition, black-framed mullions and light oak timber define key areas while maintaining openness.

Acoustic comfort was addressed through strategic baffle placement and sound testing, ensuring a high-performing environment despite a fully tiled floor plate. Trend Group successfully balanced the client’s brief with site considerations, using innovative approaches to deliver a seamless and high-performing workspace which satisfied landlord and budgetary needs.
