The result is a distinctive, brand-led workplace that integrates seamlessly into the wider office environment.
When a private client in digital marketing and operational services needed to expand their Johannesburg offices to support their growing administrative workforce, they reached out to Trend Group for the full design and build. The brief was to create a practical, high-performing workspace with a bold, sports-inspired design language, drawing subtle influence from the visual identities of the online brands that they service.
Located within the same building as the company’s headquarters, the new office floor forms part of a wider workplace ecosystem that supports the company’s growing team. Delivered by Trend Group through a streamlined design and project management programme, the space prioritises functionality, efficiency, and a high-quality working environment tailored to operational requirements.

Sports Themed Spaces
The approach to the layout was driven by the role of the space as an extension of the company’s existing headquarters. The new floor was planned to support the broader workplace ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on shared amenities that could relieve pressure on the main office floor. From a design perspective, Trend Group developed a bold yet scalable design approach for the client, establishing a clear visual language that can be replicated across future offices across the country. Sports references and immersive themed spaces were used to create an energetic, brand-proud environment, while remaining practical and fit for purpose.
The colour palette draws from the brands that they services, with lime green, black, and white forming the primary base, complemented by darker green tones. Accents of purple and royal blue appear in selected areas, introducing contrast and character while maintaining a sleek, modern workplace aesthetic. At the heart of the space is a centrally positioned canteen, conceived as both a social hub and a flexible overflow area for the wider workforce.
The canteen is the most design-led area of the floor, inspired by Wimbledon and tennis, with elements such as custom lighting, graphic detailing, and actual tennis court flooring reinforcing the sports theme. Additional themed spaces reference other sporting codes, including a soccer-inspired main boardroom and subtle golf cues in external areas.

Custom Features
Sports references continue throughout the office through graphic treatments, branded signage, and bespoke elements, including a custom pool-ball clock wall and illuminated 3D dice installations. Memorabilia such as signed sports items and certificates are showcased at the entrance, creating a sense of history and arrival. Together, these elements introduce moments of energy and personality, while maintaining a professional, functional working environment.
Coordinated Delivery
The project was delivered within a condensed six-week programme, requiring careful coordination across design, construction, and procurement teams. As the new floor formed part of a wider, live office environment, the space was integrated into the company’s existing workplace ecosystem, with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Delivery also coincided with an evolving brand update, introducing additional design coordination during the programme. Despite some knock-on delays, Trend Group worked closely with the client to manage these changes and minimise their impact on the overall programme. Trend Group partnered with Design Colab as the FF&E specialist on the project, providing furniture solutions aligned with both the overall design vision and the operational requirements of the space.

Inspiring Workplace
The completed space provides the company with a distinctive, design-led workplace that supports both its growing administrative team and the wider office environment. The project stands as a showcase of Trend Group’s capability to deliver complex, brand-driven environments while maintaining clarity, coordination, and design integrity throughout.
