Trend Group is proud to have delivered both the original fit-out in 2018 and the recent 2025 refurbishment of FYN, a world-renowned and award-winning fine-dining restaurant. This long-term collaboration reflects our commitment to creating refined hospitality spaces that honour both design vision and culinary excellence.
A Design Vision Realised
The 2018 fit-out emerged from the collaboration between Chef Peter Tempelhoff and interior designer Tristan du Plessis of Studio A. Trend Group transformed their concept into a highly curated interior defined by natural materials, warm textures, and sculptural lighting. The open kitchen created a theatrical centrepiece, while meticulous craftsmanship in joinery and bespoke elements established a sensory, minimalist aesthetic. Acoustic performance was carefully considered, ensuring the lively interaction between kitchen and dining areas enhanced the atmosphere. The original fit-out was delivered in just eight weeks, setting a benchmark for sophisticated hospitality interiors.
A Refined Reimagination
In 2025, Trend Group executed FYN’s refurbishment, enhancing the original design with new layers of material, texture, and spatial detail. The guest journey begins with a leather-wrapped handrail guiding visitors up the staircase to a stairwell anchored by Jaco van Schalkwyk’s kelp forest painting. A softly lit corridor of black textured panels with brass inlays leads into the main dining area, a sensory experience that ultimately reveals FYN’s signature suspended artwork.
Craftsmanship and Function
Rich timbers, bespoke joinery, custom furniture, and concealed storage contribute to the restaurant’s tactile identity. Functional upgrades to the kitchen layout, flooring, equipment, and back-of-house flow ensure the culinary team operates efficiently within a space as considered as the dining environment itself.
