A Vision for Transformation

Trend Group undertook the refurbishment of DB Schenker’s South African offices, highlighting our ability to infuse subtle elegance into spaces while managing a live site. Throughout the construction process, employees continued their work, a testament to our planning and execution skills. The design focused on differentiating the various departments within an open-plan layout, balancing visual excitement with a refined aesthetic.

A Welcoming Reception

The reception area, as the first point of contact, received a significant makeover. Featuring a double-volume ceiling, we enhanced the space with modern furnishings, including an elegant, curved sofa and high-back armchairs flanking the reception desk. Acoustic panels were strategically placed to manage sound levels, and an updated world map feature wall behind the desk added character. Timber cladding in warm tones was introduced in the stairwell areas, subtly invoking an African touch.

Distinctive Departmental Identity

The open-plan offices were designed with four wings, each corresponding to different freight divisions. We introduced vibrant feature walls for each division—blue for ocean freight, green for land, yellow for air, and orange for departments like IT and finance. These colourful accents stand out against a neutral backdrop of grey and white, creating a visually engaging environment tailored to the specialised needs of each department.

Enhancing Executive Spaces

The executive wing received sophisticated finishes, including Italian Venetian stucco and elegant boiserie details on feature walls. The main boardroom became a focal point with updated walls and carpets, showcasing the refined design. Additionally, the executive tearoom was enlarged and enclosed, becoming an informal meeting space furnished with a high bar table and stools, enhanced by a vinyl frosted fade for added privacy.

By moving one wing at a time, we minimised disruption, providing DB Schenker with a modern workspace that reflects their identity and operational needs, showcasing our expertise in transforming spaces seamlessly.
