Launching a New Era for Facebook in Africa
Trend Group was awarded the implementation and construction of Facebook’s headquarters for Africa in Johannesburg. As the social network prepares to reinforce its presence on the continent, connecting with over a billion active users, this project represents a significant step in establishing a deeper relationship with the African market.

The project required strict adherence to Facebook’s international fit-out guidelines, which mandated a keen focus on acoustics, furniture selection, and security measures. Trend Group’s approach ensured that all elements were meticulously integrated to meet Facebook’s operational needs while maintaining the integrity of their global standards.
A Fusion of Modern Design and Cultural Influence
The design, conceptualised by Boogertman Architects, is characterised by an industrial yet modern aesthetic, seamlessly blending contemporary design with rich African cultural influences. The use of local prints and textures in the finishes enhances the aesthetic appeal and underscores the significance of cultural identity within the workspace.

The design, done by Boogertman Architects was very industrial and modern, bringing in African prints and textures into the finishes representing local influence. The design incorporated some eye-catching features such as the map of Africa which stretches across two story is and has a coloured cord which displays the connection points from all over Africa to the rest of the world.
